Yujin Kim wins the Grand Prize (AI Division) at the 2025 Data Innovation Competition

Yujin Kim, a Ph.D. student in the KAIST Health Design Lab (advisor: Prof. Lisa Lim, KAIST Smart City Research Center), has been awarded the Grand Prize in the AI Division of the 2025 Data Innovation Competition (2025년 국민과 함께하는 데이터 혁신 경진대회).

Her winning project, "SAFE:ON – An Integrated Platform for Real-Time Risk Detection and Prediction," used high-precision maps and urban data to develop AI prediction models that proactively identify urban risks. The platform also evaluates the potential benefits of the predictions for on-site citizen responses and for policy decision-making scenarios.

The competition was co-hosted by the National Geographic Information Institute, the Architecture & Urban Research Institute, and Dong-A Ilbo, and organized by the Korean Society of Surveying, Geodesy, Photogrammetry, and Cartography. Congratulations to Yujin on this outstanding achievement, which highlights the lab's commitment to applying data-driven methods to urban safety and resilience.
